Stuff and Such

Hey team!

First, excellent team meeting last Friday!  I do believe our Harry Potter party went rather well.  Later this week I'll post some notes for our upcoming meeting this Friday, so look for those either Wednesday or Thursday.  I'd like to have a meeting that addresses your concerns and questions, so let me know ASAP if you have something you've been wondering about or if you've seen something you want to be covered.

Also, we don't have anyone scheduled for this Friday's treat, so any volunteers would be appreciated.  Thanks!
P.S. Remember that you MUST have your cross training completed by this Friday (3/25).

Scores and Such

Hey Team!

So, by this time you should have received your ACD and Al scores.  The majority of you had pretty low AL scores, so please improve your scores!  AL scores need to be at least a 90%.

Also, Cross Training is still going on and needs to be completed ASAP!  Remember to update our CT Spreadsheet on the Ndrive (Ndrive-->Databases-->Front Desk-->Cross Training Team 1).  If you're having problems updating the spreadsheet let me know.  I need to know that everyone is doing their cross training, so if you've gone places, update it.  Or email/Spark me and I'll update it for you.

Thanks for being awesome!  And remember, our Harry Potter soiree will be this Friday!  Once everyone has signed up for something to bring (it doesn't have to be food) I'll post the sign-up sheet on the blog so we all have a good idea.

Thanks!

Friday Meeting Theme

Hey Team!  So, I just had a thought.  Since today is Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras (also affectionately known as Carnival) is being celebrated just about everywhere, we should have a Mardi Gras theme Friday Meeting.

I invite everyone to bring some sort of Mardi Gras theme treat, and we may even have a game.

Thoughts?

Friday Meeting take 2

Hey Team!  This is just a quick post about what we'll be doing tomorrow.

Firstly, we'll be cross training in High School.  So, right at 9, meet in the break room.  Once everyone's gathered we'll head over to High School to be trained.

Also, remember that we'll be having another Show-and-Tell tomorrow, so bring something (especially if, like me, you spaced).

Remember that you can't transfer outside of the building.  Registration, BGS, is fine, but Records and other BYU campus numbers can't be transferred to.  You can always give the student the number and they can then call.

Also, Nicole has treats for tomorrow.

Show and Tell

So, this week's show and tell was awesome, but it didn't feel complete.  We'll be holding continuous Show and Tell times during the Friday meetings, just to give everyone a real chance of showing and telling.

Also, please remember to do Cross Training!  I'll let you know for sure when we'll be training over in High School.  It'll either be next Tuesday or during our Friday meeting.

You MUST be using the call tracker!  I understand that quite a few of you already keep track of your calls because you're on counselor support, but you still need to use the call tracker.  It doesn't look like it works very well with Firefox, so you'll need to open it in Explorer.

That's all for now!

Cross Training Reminder!!!

Hey Team!  Remember in our meeting when we talked about Cross Training and the awesome adventures it held?  Well, Cross Training has started!  If you go on a CT Trek, send a spark to a couple of your teammates so 3-4 of you can share in the adventure.  All CT needs to be completed NO LATER than March 25.  Tiffany has kindly created a spread-sheet so we can keep track of when everything is completed.  To access it, go to N drive-->databases-->Front Desk-->Team 1 Cross training.

Thanks for being awesome!  And don't forget about our Show-and-Tell on Friday!  And, Ashley has treats for this week's meeting.

Reminder

Hey all!  This is just a reminder of the things we have going on.

First, remember that this Friday will be our Show-and-Tell!  Make sure to bring something awesomely important to you.

Also, CALL TRACKER!  Make sure you track each of your calls.  It hasn't been too busy, so this shouldn't be too much of a hassle.  Let me know if you didn't get the link Kelcie emailed and I'll send it to you again.

And, I'm thinking March 18th would be perfect for our Harry Potter themed shindig.  Thoughts?

That's all for now!

Meeting Notes take 1

So, this Friday I'm not in charge of our meeting.  It'll be covered by Rebecca, but here are a few things that I've noticed that I'd like to post for your information.

1) Sending a fax-- Make sure you type the coversheet.  There's a blank fax template located in the N Drive for this purpose.  Include your name (and the name of the person who's attention it's going) on the coversheet.  When you're done sending the fax, don't forget to leave a note!  Also, check back about fifteen or so minutes to make sure the fax was sent successfully.

2) Changing information--We CANNOT change information in a student's (or proctor's) file.  For a student, we can add an ACT code, but we cannot change any personal information, such as they address.  The student can change the information or we can transfer them to Registration.  For counselor's, we can transfer them to Testing or send a Testing form.

3) Remember, you can't watch videos at your computer.

4) Also, emails to corrections should be sent in an IPF.  For more information, come talk to me.

4) Blind transfers are a big no-no!  Also, it's nice if you apologize to a student by saying "I apologize for the inconvenience" but don't come right out and say you're sorry for a certain situation.  Also!  Don't feel obligated to give out your last name to a customer.  If you're not comfortable giving that out, don't.  Also, don't give out a fellow employee's last name without their permission.

Thanks Team!

Team Meeting 2/4

Hey Team!  So, we didn't get to go over everything I wanted to in our meeting today, which was fine, because it's mainly review.  Our meeting today was pretty awesome.  It was nice to just talk and such.

Anyway, so, here's a few things you should be aware of!

1) Even if a BYU student is taking one of our courses, if they request their exam to the BYU testing center, it'll still be a $2 fee.

2) Salt Lake Center exams-- more information will follow.

3) You should all have received an email from Kelcie with information about how to create a Ned id without a course access code.  Just make sure you have it handy and perhaps peruse the instructions so you know what to do if the occasion arises.

4) Also, does everyone have access to the blog?  Please let me know ASAP if you don't so I can rectify the situation.

5) Stat 221--the only midterm exams that should be requested are the even numbered midterms (2,4,6) not the odd numbered exams.  Odd numbered exams are used as place holders for the instructor graded section.  Let me know if you have any questions!

6) Hand grading must go through the Testing Department!

7) Speaking of the Testing Department, make sure that if the wrong exam has been sent to a student--such as a geometry exam being sent to a student taking an art class--that you let Testing know ASAP!  Don't send another exam because the error is probably internal!  So, go directly to Stephanie to see what can be done.

8) And, last but not least, PaymentTech and Blackbox.  If you don't know how to use either of them, let me know and we'll have a quick training session on our to operate the pesky machines.

Thanks Team!  Also, sorry about the lack of cupcakes.  I'll make it up to you.

I think that, during one of the weeks we don't have someone scheduled for treats, we should have a themed Treat Friday party.  Thoughts?

Meeting Notes

Hey team!

So, if you've checked your email, then you know that the two questions brought up during the meeting have been answered.  I'm posting them here so it's readily available.

Student's can add their ACT codes to their files after they register.

Also, the name of high school transcripts should be updated on the website in the near future!

That's all for now.  I'll be periodically posting quizzes and polls on the blog for training purposes as well as just for kicks and giggles.
My name is Cody. I'm from Oroville, CA. I like making photography and movies.

Make sure you let Kelcie/Testing know when you've received this error.

4) Math110 login information

Tiffany

So...I'm Tiffany. I'm exactly 1 inch taller than the height of legal midgets, and thus just barely missed my opportunity to park in handicapped spots. My favorite color is green, and if I would rather be at home in my kitchen than almost anywhere else in the world. I hate waking up, so why I work at 7 am, I may never figure out. I grew up in Pocatello Idaho, and lived in the same house for the first 18 1/2 years of my life. I started school at BYU a semester late because my stepmom got sick right before I came down for my freshman year, so I deferred a semester. Thus I just barely started my junior year.
I'm majoring in Family and Consumer Science Education...which is pretty much just an elaborate way of saying I want to be a home ec teacher.
I also have a pet tortoise named Shelby. I believe Shelby is currently in the midst of taking over the world starting with my apartment. She's pretty good at it. So if you ever hear of a world dictator named Shelby...that's probably her.

Ashley

Hey everyone!  Ok, so here's some stuff you should know about Ashley Barnes.

I was born in Stillwater, OK, and I lived there until I was about 5.  When I was 5, my family moved to Utah for a year, but then my dad was offered a job in London, England, which was awesome.  We lived just outside of London for about three years, and then we moved straight to Sydney, Australia.  After three years in Sydney, we moved back to Utah.  I went to middle school in Utah (another three years), and just as I was going into high school, my dad got a job offer in New Delhi, India (guess how many years we stayed there, ha ha).  I graduated high school in India, then came straight to BYU.  Because of all that, I am now pretty much addicted to travelling.

I'm a Junior here at BYU, and I am studying English.  There's no real purpose behind my English major--I'm just love to read and write, and I knew that I could graduate with a fairly decent GPA if I majored in English.  I'm actually planning on going into the Foreign Service (that's just working for the American Embassy).

I have three sisters, no brothers, and no pets (although I would love a dog).  My two older sisters are married, and between the two of them I have two nieces, two nephews, and two babies on the way (one's a girl; we don't know the gender of the other one).  My family's a little crazy, but I love them.  So that's me in a nutshell.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Angry Elves

Our very own Charlotte is incredibly clever as it turns out. I took a call from her because the caller wanted to talk to a supervisor, and Matt gave me permission to pretend to be a supervisor for a 1 phone call period of time. The caller was very upset, and here is the exchange Charlotte and I then had on Spark at the end of the call:
(10:17 AM) Tiffany: Sorry you had to talk to her. She was an angry elf
(10:17 AM) Charlotte Wease: haha, she was definitely from the south pole....

I feel so much more knowledgeable now that I know the angry elves are from the South Pole. Plus that made me happy.
